The B.R.I.D.G.E. Program's annual $5 million investment from FY 2026-2031 is designed to create a multiplier effect, potentially adding $1-1.5 trillion to the U.S. economy by 2028.

This economic stimulus could help address Maryland’s fiscal challenges by increasing tax revenues and reducing reliance on state services.

OUR GOAL

The B.R.I.D.G.E. Program Bill aims to address Maryland's projected $6 billion structural deficit by 2030 through strategic investment in entrepreneurship and economic development.

Slow Economic Growth

Maryland ranks 49th nationally in job growth rate, with only 0.6% growth over the past year. The B.R.I.D.G.E. Program aims to stimulate job creation and economic growth by supporting business incubators in underserved areas.

Budget Deficit

Maryland faces a projected structural deficit of nearly $6 billion by fiscal 2030. By fostering entrepreneurship and business growth, the B.R.I.D.G.E. Program could contribute to expanding the tax base and increasing state revenues.

Limited Resources

Many underserved communities lack adequate resources for business development. The B.R.I.D.G.E. Program focuses on supporting qualified incubators in HUB Zones, Opportunity Zones, and underserved areas, fostering local economic growth.

Business Climate

Maryland's business friendliness ranking has declined from 24th to 37th nationally. By providing grants to establish diverse and effective business incubators, the B.R.I.D.G.E. Program aims to improve the state's business ecosystem and attractiveness to entrepreneurs.
